What the Leisure Program is
- Training
- 45 minutes, twice a week. The annual fee also includes summer training. At Sasaja we aim to arrange the second weekly session if the group goes ahead. Stadin TKD: details to be confirmed.
- Joining
- Any time. The technical content rotates in 8-week cycles, so even someone who comes once a week will learn everything during a season.
- Age
- No age limits. Children over 10 may be better suited to one of the other programs (Junior Black Belt, Senior Black Belt or Competitor).
- Child without an adult
- A child may take part without an adult. A child under 6 must have an adult in the hall. The child’s fee is the same whether or not an adult takes part.
- Adult alone
- An adult may also join without a child, at the same price as a child.
- Groups
- 10–20 children, with adults in addition. The goal is one instructor per ten children. Assistant instructors are higher belts. Adults training in the program help when needed but do not act as instructors.
- Duration
- You join the program for a maximum of one year at a time.
The program is the same at Beom, at Sasaja and at Stadin TKD, and later at the Chanbara clubs.
Seasons and prices
Seasons
| Season | Months |
|---|---|
| Spring season | January–June |
| Autumn season | July–December |
The fee is tied to the season, not to the day you join.
Prices
Prices are per paying child or per adult who joins alone.
| Fee | Price | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Annual fee (recommended) | €200 | the rest of the current season and the whole next season |
| Season fee (6 months) | €150 | one season |
| Trial sessions | €0 | up to two trial sessions (see Trial sessions) |
- Everyone, including current members, registers separately at the start of the year. The due date for the spring season and the annual fee is 15 January.
- The autumn season invoice is sent with a due date of 15 July to those who have not chosen the annual fee.
- The annual fee can be paid in two instalments, due 15 January and 15 July. Paying the whole year at once is recommended. If you pay in two instalments, you do not get the monthly credit.
- The season fee is deliberately relatively more expensive than the annual fee.
- Sibling discount 50% for every sibling, on the annual fee only. There is no sibling discount on the season fee. The discount applies to children only, not to adults who join alone. The invoice is sent automatically at the normal price, and the invoice shows the discounted amount. Pay the discounted amount using the invoice reference.
- Adult free of charge: for every paying child, one adult trains without a program fee. In a family with two paying children, two adults can therefore train free of charge. The adult must also buy a license (see License and insurance).
- Summer training: the annual fee includes all summer training. A season fee payer can join summer training during the months of their own season: the spring season payer in June, the autumn season payer in July–August.
- Supporting fee (€50) is for supporting members, and anyone may pay it voluntarily.
Joining during a season
- Annual fee: if you join during a season and pay the rest of the current season and the next season at once, you get a €10 credit for each month of the season that has already passed. The month you join is not counted. The credit applies only to months 2–4 of a season, that is, when you join in February–April or August–October. The credit is calculated separately for each paying child.
- Current season only: if you pay only for the current season, the full price applies.
- Season fee: always the full €150, whatever month you join.
- The last two months of a season: if you join in May–June or November–December, you pay for the next season, and the rest of the current season is included in the price.
- May–June and the annual fee: when you join in May–June and pay two full seasons at once, the fee covers the rest of the current season and the time until the end of June the following year.
- Order of calculation: the sibling discount is calculated from the normal price, and the monthly credit is deducted last.
Price table by month of joining
The price is for one paying child (or one adult who joins alone). Each sibling’s annual fee is €100 minus the same monthly credit. The annual fee prices assume that both seasons are paid at once.
| Month of joining | Annual fee | Annual fee valid | Season fee | Season fee valid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | €200 | Jan–Dec | €150 | Jan–Jun |
| February | €190 | Feb–Dec | €150 | Feb–Jun |
| March | €180 | Mar–Dec | €150 | Mar–Jun |
| April | €170 | Apr–Dec | €150 | Apr–Jun |
| May | €200 | May–Jun free + Jul–Jun | €150 | May–Jun free + Jul–Dec |
| June | €200 | Jun free + Jul–Jun | €150 | Jun free + Jul–Dec |
| July | €200 | Jul–Jun | €150 | Jul–Dec |
| August | €190 | Aug–Jun | €150 | Aug–Dec |
| September | €180 | Sep–Jun | €150 | Sep–Dec |
| October | €170 | Oct–Jun | €150 | Oct–Dec |
| November | €200 | Nov–Dec free + Jan–Dec | €150 | Nov–Dec free + Jan–Jun |
| December | €200 | Dec free + Jan–Dec | €150 | Dec free + Jan–Jun |
Joining offer (valid from the launch on 15 November 2026): with the spring season fee (€150) you train until the end of 2026 at no extra cost, and with the annual fee (€200) you get the same benefit plus the whole of 2027. The monthly credit is not given in this case. Those who join in November–December train until the end of the year in the current family groups.
Pausing, freezing and the credit reserve
How pausing works
- The season fee is not refunded.
- If a family has paid for the whole year and pauses during the first season, half of the second season’s share is credited. The credit is at most 50% of the fee: €50 on a full annual fee and €25 on a sibling’s €100 annual fee. The credit stays in the family’s credit reserve and is deducted from the fees when the family returns. Money is not paid back.
- If you pause during the second season, no credit reserve is created.
- If the annual fee is paid in two instalments and the family pauses during the first season, the second instalment is not invoiced and no credit reserve is created.
- The credit reserve is valid for 12 months from the notice of leaving.
- If a child stops but the adult continues, the adult becomes a paying member, and the credit reserve is deducted from the adult’s next invoice straight away.
Moving up to a higher program
- You can move from the Leisure Program to the Junior Black Belt, Senior Black Belt or Competitor program after your first belt test at the earliest.
- Someone who has paid the annual fee gets a transfer credit: half of the fee for the remaining whole season. The remaining months of the current season are not credited. Example: someone who moves in March gets a €50 credit from the €100 for July–December.
- A season fee payer does not get a transfer credit.
Trial sessions
- There are at most two trial sessions.
- Trial participants register in myClub and choose the product ”Kokeilukerrat” (trial sessions, €0). No invoice is sent for the trial sessions.
- If a trial participant comes a third time, an invoice for the full Leisure Program season fee (€150) is sent.
- No license or insurance is required at trial sessions. The trial is at the participant’s own risk.
- What to wear at a trial session: a T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms. We train without shoes, socks or jewelry. Bring a (plastic) water bottle and a small towel.
License and insurance
- Federation license: €38 for the whole year, €25 for the autumn license (prices as of 20 October 2026, subject to change). Current prices: SuomiSport or taekwon-do.fi/liitto/lisenssit (in Finnish).
- The license must be bought at the start of the year. It is mandatory also for an adult who trains free of charge.
- Someone who joins in November–December can buy the Taekwon-Do license in January.
- Someone who joins in July buys the autumn license.
- The license does not include insurance, but you can buy insurance at the same time. Your own accident insurance that covers the sport is also fine.
- The Kamppailukorporaatio license (€20/year) is for those who train more often, in more than one town or in more than one sport. It is not the default license of the Leisure Program. The Kamppailukorporaatio license must be bought for every year, whatever day you join.
Belt tests and equipment
Belt tests
- Belt tests are held twice a year: around the turn of April–May and around the turn of November–December. Separate tests can be arranged when needed. Stadin TKD has its own belt tests, and their dates will be announced later.
- The belt test fee is €20 and includes the new belt.
- At every other test the colour of the belt changes, and at every other test a tag of the next colour is added to the belt. The belt colour therefore changes about once a year.
- Belt order: white, yellow, green, blue, red and black.
- A child’s white belt has five colour tags (yellow, green, blue, red and black), after which the child can take the yellow belt test. The tags apply to all children, also in the Leisure Program. The tags are free of charge, and they can be tested at a belt test or with the instructor during training.
- For children, the €20 belt test and the alternation (colour, tag, colour…) start from the yellow belt test.
- A belt test requires a minimum time and a number of training hours. The yellow belt requires at least 12 weeks and 18 hours. Someone who joins in November 2026 will therefore take their first belt test in spring 2027.
- After the test there is still time during the season to learn new things.
- Theory: the clubs’ shared theory guide. The parts needed for the first tests: the oath, the tenets, belt grades, Chon-Ji and hall etiquette.
Equipment
- You buy the uniform (dobok) and belt yourself or through the club. A uniform typically costs €50–150.
- The recommended shop is fightway.shop (ITF uniforms and protective gear). In a club group order, €20 plus postage is added to the price.
- The clubs’ own shops (also with other products): Beom’s shop and Sasaja’s shop. Stadin TKD: web shop coming.
- You do not need to buy protective gear before the blue belt.
Example families
The examples are fictional. Licenses (€38 per person per year, autumn license €25) are paid separately to the federation. The annual fees are paid at once.
Family 1: a child and an adult, joining in January 2027, annual fee
Child €200, adult €0. Program fee €200, valid January–December 2027. Licenses 2 × €38 = €76.
Family 2: two children and two adults, joining in March 2027, annual fee
First child €200 − €20 (January and February) = €180. Second child €100 (sibling discount 50%) − €20 = €80. Adults €0. Program fee €260, valid March–December 2027.
Family 3: a child joins on 20 November 2026 with the offer
With the annual fee of €200: training in November–December 2026 free of charge and the whole of 2027. With the season fee of €150: November–December 2026 free of charge and the spring season 2027. The child trains until the end of the year in the current family group. The Taekwon-Do license can be bought in January 2027.
Family 4: an adult joins alone in September 2027, annual fee
€200 − €20 (July and August) = €180, valid September 2027 – June 2028. The license is the autumn license, €25.
Family 5: a child and an adult, season fee in April 2027
Child €150 (no credit), valid April–June. With the annual fee the same child would pay €170 and train until December.
Family 6: from a family group to the Leisure Program
The family trains in autumn 2026 in the current family group, whose fee covers 2026. It moves to the Leisure Program on 1 January 2027 unless it chooses another program. The family registers at the start of the year and pays the spring season fee of €150 or the annual fee of €200 by the due date of 15 January 2027.
Family 7: freezing
Family 1 pauses in April 2027. Of the autumn season’s €100, €50 goes into the credit reserve. If the family returns in January 2028 with the annual fee, it pays €200 − €50 = €150. The credit reserve expires 12 months after the notice of leaving.
Family 8: moving to the Junior Black Belt program
Family 1’s child passes the first belt test in April–May 2027 and moves to JBBP in June. The remaining whole season is July–December (€100), and the transfer credit is €50.
