Kamppailukorporaatio is a collective of independent martial arts clubs, companies and instructors that brings its members under one roof. Every club decides on its own activities, while the collective shares what is heavy for a small club to carry alone: instructors, training facilities, equipment, events and years of experience. For a student this means a wider choice of martial arts and the chance to train in more than one place within the same network.
A Korean martial art that trains fundamental techniques, patterns, step sparring, self-defence and sparring. It suits children and adults alike, and its five tenets (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit) travel with you outside the gym too.
A Japanese sword-fighting sport practised with padded weapons. The safe equipment means you can take part in sparring from your very first sessions, which makes the sport unusually easy to start at any age.
A Filipino martial art in which stick, blade and empty hand belong to the same system: the same principles work with and without a weapon.
Member clubs are active in Helsinki, Espoo, Imatra, Pori, Leppävirta and Kuopio. Training takes place in school gyms and in gyms equipped for martial arts. Most groups welcome beginners to try a class without prior martial arts experience or your own equipment; training clothes and a water bottle are enough for the first time.
The clubs train first-timers who are children as well as adults with decades of experience. In many groups a parent can train alongside the child, and some clubs are built around family exercise. The aim is not only technique but a lasting hobby: good fitness, a respectful atmosphere and a community that is easy to join.
