About the sport

Taekwon-Do is a Korean martial art based especially on leg techniques such as kicks. It emphasises physical fitness, self-defence skills and mental development. Taekwon-Do includes a variety of punches, kicks and patterns, as well as sparring techniques that train body control and skill. The sport also has competition formats: sparring, patterns, power breaking and a self-defence demonstration. Taekwon-Do encourages self-control, respect and honesty, which supports a positive outlook on life and mental growth.
